Bringing Home the Championship

Throughout the fifty years of the first era of girls high school basketball, teams all over Minnesota played in tournaments, earning trophies and the title of "Champion."

There were invitational tournaments and tournaments sponsored by MSHSL district and regions.

Players described their experiences and were proud to report their achievements at tournaments. Mementos kept over the years included school letters, tournament programs, and individual player awards like rings and gold basketballs. Only a few trophies have been rescued and saved over the decades.

The following photos from the book Daughters of the Game illustrate the championships held.
