See features in "Daughters of the Game," about Montgomery, pp. 221-224, Jordan, pp. 194-196, New Prague, pp. 228-229, Belle Plaine, pp. 115-119.

Montgomery, p. 222: "The annual district tournament included a silver loving cup which was won once by Montgomery, three times by New Prague and twice by Jordan. The team winning three times would be given permanent possession of the cup. Montgomery won the District 7 Championship in 1930. In the February 28, 1980 Montgomery Messenger, Coach John Muraski wrote, 'The girls basketball team won the league championship, also the girls basketball tournament held at New Prague. This was the best basketball team I ever coached, and the girls worked very hard to achieve the championship in 1930." The 1930-31 high school newspaper reported, 'The girls met with some real 'hard luck' during the tournament which was held in the gymnasium at New Prague March 4th and 5th when they lost to Belle Plaine and Jordan. They will never forget when Eunice (Wolfe) sprained her ankle and finally when Irma (Malone) was carried from the floor. This situation called for some real fight and spirit and the girls were there to give it up to the last minute of play. This same attitude was shown throughout the year - both at practice and regular games - and it is because of this that we can all say, we are truly proud of the girls and wish them the greatest amount of success during the season of 1931-32."

Montgomery continued, p. 223: On March 17, 1932, the Jordan Independent provided coverage of the district tournament. It headlined, "Jordan High School Girls Win district championship Honors. Silver Loving Cup Brought Back to Hub for First Time Since 1929." Jordan took first honors at the girls basketball tournament held in New Prague last Thursday and Friday evenings. They defeated Belle Plaine, 26 to 12 and Montgomery 32-16." The article went on, "Montgomery, and that means Miss Wolfe, returned the victor in the other Thursday night elimination contest. Eunice Wolfe plays a hard game. She had a capable running mate in Irma Malone (Foley), who although much smaller, was equal to the task of playing hard driving type of basketball. Eunice Wolfe carries the scoring punch of the Montgomery team. She is fed the ball under the basket by her two forwards, Havel and Malone and has a good eye for the basket. She shoots like a man and apparently does not tire under the strain." After the presenting of the trophy, the all-district team was announced. Montgomery was awarded two positions on the All-District First Team, Wolframsdorf being placed at center and Irma Malone winning a forward position. Vitha was named to the All-District Second Team."
