Franklin: Wesley Church team - addendum
Central Minnesota, 12 miles east of Redwood Falls on #19
Years Represented: 1907-1929
The photo is of the Wesley Church team and includes Alice and Esther Schroeder. Their sister Bertha also played on the high school team.
They played from 1926-29. Alice was a forward and one of the stars at Franklin. Alice's father drove the team to gmes by car. They played in a city building and games were officiated. The girls played the first game and the boys the second game.
Alice said, "In my mind, the community liked the girls better than the boys. I don't know if it was because we had the better team." The newspaper reported that Alice's shot resembled a hook shot of today and was hard to block.
