Minneapolis North High School
East central Minnesota; Minneapolis Public School District
Years Represented: 1901
A family album disclosed one of the earliest known photos of a high school girls basketball team: 1901 Minneapolis North High School.
Faith Bennyhoff, Osseo, provided the photo and the following bit of history.
"My mother graduated in 1907. The photo is dated 1901. I believe my mother´s sister, Lucy Fruen, is the player on the right end of the back row.
The Fruen family settled along Bassett Creek where Grandfather Fruen built a mill and discovered a spring. Thus began Glenwood-Inglewood Spring Water. I wish our Mama was still alive. There are a thousand questions I´d ask her."
