On January 15, 1910, the visiting team from Warren arrived on 'the local,' and were escorted to varous homes where they were entertained.
Home games were played in the opera house. The game was 'called' at 2:00 p.m. Referees were Miss Halsing and Mr. Thomas of Warren.
The newspaper reported that, "the two teams were very evenly matched as regards size and the game was well played and most interesting from start to finish resulting in a score of 10-9 in favor of Stephen. The following are the young ladies who played (Warren): Misses Seign, Head, Lundgren, Peterson, Rudluff and Carpenter. Stephen: Misses Jacobson, Walker, Noyes, Hanson and Dickinson."
After the game, the Warren team left on 'the local' to play an evening game with Argyle.
The train, known as 'the local,'was a primary mode for transporting teams to away games.
The local newspaper, January 28, 1910, reported that, "The Girls Are It." The article stated, "They (the team) were met by the Warren faculty and pupils who took them to the different homes for entertainment. The game was called at 7:30 p.m. in the hall."
The Stephen girls team won by a score of 8 to 2.
The article concluded, "After the game, the Stephen people were invited to the schoolhouse where they were given a reception. An interesting program was rendered and refreshments were served. The Warren people proved to be royal entertainers and everything possible was done to make the trip a pleasant one for the Stephenites."
No photos are available for the 1910 team. One photo appears to be of the 1911 team and includes names but no information on their season.
The circa 1911 photo of the Stephen team lists - Front: Maud Hanson Beach, Marjorie Whalen Walker, Selma Jacobson. Back: Agnes Walker, Gail Dykeman, Mabel Noyes, Jessie Dickinson.
