Our book, Daughters of the Game - the First Era of Minnesota Girls High School Basketball, 1891-1942, includes a team profile of the Madison girls basketball team, 1916-1919. Margaret Hauck Morrill was a member of the team and is the player on the far left side of the photo. Her team played Dawson, traveling by train. Margaret said, "i was little but I was fast." Her favorite memories were of the "fun parties with hot cocoa after the game. They played games at the parties. We did a lot of cooking for the parties. Everyone who came to the game came to the party."

Dale Skallerud, Hawley, provided a photo of the 1927 Madison girls basketball team. He identified his mother, Helen Marie Hauck Skallerud as the 4th player from the right end of the back row. Dale wrote that 'it is a small world,' as his mother and Marlys Morrill Chutch (the daughter of Margaret Hauck Morrill) were first cousins.
