An unidentified publication wrote, "In 1923 the girls organized for the first time during the entire history of the school to play basket ball.
"However, the first of the year was spent in practicing and in cheering for the boys. But the boys had a chance to cheer for the girls when they played their first game with Rapidan and the score was 4 to 1 in favor of St. Clair."
